Our Coordinators of Victim and Witness Assistance are better known as the CARES Team, which stands for Coordination, Assistance, Resources, Encouragement and Support. CARES Team members ensure victims and their families are heard, understood, supported, informed and comforted during what are often extremely stressful and difficult circumstances. They are responsible for supporting victims and their families throughout the criminal justice process, including coordinating resources and services, accompaniment to court, assistance with victim impact statement and trial preparation, and providing information and additional services post-disposition. The CARES Team also focuses on crime and victimization prevention in vulnerable communities and provides referrals for those in need throughout Worcester County. A CARES Team member will be the first person from the Office of the State’s Attorney to reach out to you about your case and will serve as your primary point of contact throughout the entire court process. CARES Team members help victims and witnesses understand and prepare for next steps and relay valuable insight and information to prosecutors on behalf of victims to ensure a comprehensive and strategic victim-centered approach to prosecution. To speak with a CARES Team member about your case, please call (410) 632-2166/Option 7.
