5/14/2019 - MYRON DRUMMOND CONVICTED OF SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT

May 14, 2019

On May 9, 2019, Myron Drummond, age 29, of Selbyville, Delaware, was convicted of second degree assault and sentenced by the Honorable Richard R. Bloxom, retired Judge of the Worcester County Circuit Court, to serve a 5 years in the Maryland Division of Corrections, with all but 2 years suspended. Drummond will be on 2 years of supervised probation upon his release from prison and has been ordered to pay full restitution to the victim for medical bills incurred as a result of the assault.

The charges stem from a report received by the Ocean City Police Department on June 24, 2017, about several males involved in an assault near a local nightclub in Ocean City, Maryland. When officers arrived, they found the victim lying face down, bleeding from the mouth and unresponsive. Police reviewed surveillance video and spoke with an eyewitness, who was able to identify Drummond as the person who had repeatedly punched the victim in the face and head. Police located Drummond in the area and observed fresh blood smears on his t-shirt. The victim was transported to the University of Maryland’s Shock Trauma Unit in Baltimore after it was determined that he had suffered a concussion and a dislocated jaw.

Worcester County State’s Attorney Kris Heiser commended the Ocean City Police Department and Officer Berry for his work on this investigation, and thanked Assistant State’s Attorney Paul Haskell for his prosecution of the case.
